Re: Canon IR5020 & IR 6020i network troubles

and check this memory that you were kind enough to point out to me.
Thanks

Teckat,
That would be regular memory? I assume that would also be on the
DC Controller? I did a search of the PDF file I have and it cam up with a lot
of entries for memory. Mostly on the hard drive. But this sounds like it
would be like a regular memory stick, right?

Teckat,
The memory you refer to, is that the counter memory? That is what the search of the manual turned up for me. I was thinking
that there may be just a memory stick, like I would install into a computer.
Obviously I have not had to do much work in this area of the machine.
Thanks
DR
sorry for confusion, it's the reg.Memory / don't no why I put the work stickLeave a comment:

Memory stick? I will do this but it seems rather odd to me, that is did not give some kind of
code referring to memory.
I may have to take the Canon line up out of the machines I offer. I don't need this much
stress.
Thanks Superman

Scanner will not move from Home Position.
scanning lamp will come on but the scanner will not come out of home position.
No error codes would appear in the display ???
Remove>Clean>re-Seat or Replace the 64MB memory stick on the Main Controller.
If replaced, the scanner should be able to move to the scan position when using either the glass or the DADF.Leave a comment:

Re: Canon IR5020 & IR 6020i network troubles
Todays emergency, it missed a couple of staples, then I'm told it made the sound like it was trying
to staple like 30 times. It stapled the 1st set and the last set but mis-stapled a few sets in between.
It put hole in them but no staples.
Naturally, 45 minutes later when I arrived I ran 10 sets of 5pgs with a double staple, perfectly.
She ran the same job and it ran perfectly.
I told her that when it runs out it would run a sheet of paper to the staple and actuate 13 times to feed
the staple up to the ram.
This is the unit that the document recognition does not work off the glass. The scanner home and copy board
sensor are working and the settings are correct.
The scanner does not move from the home position and upon power on, the lamp flashes several times.
Is this the inverter board? I think the book said the scan motor M3 is controlled by the reader controller.
I would have to look again. My brains are getting fry'd on this machine and it's late for me.
I seem to recall reading something about the lamp flashing after power on but can't remember.

Good idea Teckat,
I wonder if they're gonna be to busy to help themselves? But that is something
that gets overlooked out here, the European paper sizes.
Life would be so much easier if everyone just did things our way. Like that's gonna happen.

Re: Canon IR5020 & IR 6020i network troubles
good luck,
a good way to test is open MS WORD, create a 11x17 test .doc > save it>
close MS WORD> re-open MS WORD & the test .doc> send to print
do this test set-up using some of their other apps./
even create a 11x17 pdf file to test-
I had a few customers who were receiving overseas (saved as A3 pdf files in e-mails), when they would open them up to view , it looked like an 11x17 file > they then hit file print> not thinking to see how the original overseas sender saved the file> and assuming it was going to print to 11x17 paper tray>
the big surprisewas a message to add paper on printer panel>they opened 11x17 tray saw paper>went back to their desk-only to try and re-send the file again & again & again> until a little bird sent them a brain message

Re: Canon IR5020 & IR 6020i network troubles
Teckat,
No large paper deck here. No temps either. All of this crew has been there for years.
On the 5020, 14" is in tray 3. In tray four is colored paper and the paper supply screen
shows this. I know I will have to change that and a couple of the settings for the printer
APS/ADS. I have them all on just cause I was not sure what it should have been.
They did demostrate this to me, the machine beeped and showed the paper supply
selection screen. All they had to do was press "OK" and the machine would print.
From what I could see of the files, the documents are 11" & 14".
On the 6020i, it is set the same way except for the colored paper. I believe tray 4 is
set for LTR or 11X17". I will double check tomorrow or Tuesday.
And yes they are stressed out, have been for a while
Thanks Teckat
I will get back to you.

Re: Canon IR5020 & IR 6020i network troubles
if u have the large Deck -your paper sources are five locations-
how many locations and where is/are 8x14 loaded
i don't believe what workers tell me at all, until I see it straight on-
or have them demonstrate the issue/ I then have them show me the print drivers set-up & and how they prepare a document for printing/
I make sure the PC's see the exact set-up of the printer/ and that it shows all paper options/
then I test what they complain about/
most of the time it's all bullshit at law firms/ u have temps working for lawyers under pressure/ secretaries under pressure/ they don't have a clue about printingLeave a comment:

Re: Canon IR5020 & IR 6020i network troubles
Teckat,
Thank you for that information. I do know that I set one supply for colored paper. It shouldn't be
a big deal to use the by pass for the limited number of times they use that colored paper.
As fas as all the same size, no it's a law firm and they use both 11" & 14". So I should de-select
all the supplies, correct?
The app is adobe and it a PC system, XP probably something new. I will get this information
and let you know.
I will check the consider paper type setting on my next visit.
Thanks a ton

Re: Canon IR5020 & IR 6020i network troubles
Check Store Paper Type in Additional Functions > Common Settings > Store Paper Type.
make sure all trays are set for plain paper
what print driver are they using/ what app is not selecting paper size
printing from a MAC or PC ?
ADS switching only functions if u have the same size paper in different trays
Also un-check Consider paper type.Leave a comment:

Re: Canon IR5020 & IR 6020i network troubles
Thanks Captn Red,
I will give this a try. I have never had to use the SST. I heard there was a new version out. I believe
I have the last version installed but have never needed to use it.
I will read the network guide and the other files next week when I get some time.
Thanks
