for these ir series, 2200/2800/3300, 5000/5000d/6000, 7200/8500/105 i am using a ir5000S machine, system software and SST of course. I can use the 5000S mainboard to ir5000 or d just for flashing the C bootrom to N. You have notice that the ir5000S main board has two bootrom slots. The right side is the original bootrom and the other side is vacant.

Just copy the ir8500 boot N prg to ir5000 directory. then run the SST, select ir5000, select system N, select boot then follow the procedure on the screen..

would it work...probably...do I care...not really. I have an abundance of all these print kits which are all out dated anyway.

no need of any 5000s to convert c version to n version. we can do directly with same model machine. i never use 5000s to convert it. i am not rich to buy a eprom copier. so i just do in c version bootrom to N version bootrom in same 8500 or 2200 any xx00 series. anybody interested just ask me how. this is an idea to develop. first try yourself. if you can not i will give you the file to upgrade c to N. this is not to trade. this file is legal version . so no need to afraid as a illegal version.

Since you have a N system software, all you have to do is to flash the bootrom to N or (@ teckat stated) then load the system software N using SST. (I have bundle of this one)

with his method you would need an old version of IR-5000 copier with the A1 main controller and without that machine you will not be able to accomplish what you are trying to do. You will still need to purchase a N boot rom
