Thanks everyone, especially teckat....much help but still no go. Tried reloading the system software and this is the error I keep getting. Tried a couple different laptops running different OS's just to make sure. Kind of at a dead end now. Very odd. BTW - it keep timing out at the same point - 33047kb

are u using a cross -over cable ??? between C1 and Laptop ??

      Take apart the C1 Box> check all pcb's & connections==

      Try and Set both

the screen prompt states to set just one in DL Position

      does your C1 BOX-
have the 4 small Diag LED's or the small LCD Diag LED window

        Try and Set both
of the C1’s download switches (DL) to face “downward” (the direction closest to the motherboard). ????

        does your C1 BOX-
have the 4 small Diag LED's or the small LCD Diag LED window
are u using a cross -over cable ??? between C1 and Laptop - - 100% for sure it's a crossover. When we try a regular, we get communication error right away

Take apart the C1 Box> check all pcb's & connections - All Connections Look Good

Try and Set both of the C1’s download switches (DL) to face “downward” (the direction closest to the motherboard) - Have done it both ways, one switches and both switches down

does your C1 BOX- have the 4 small Diag LED's or the small LCD Diag LED window - Has the 4 small diag LED's. When we power on in service mode, all diag are off and the green light is on

Have tried it every way possible and everytime the software reload timouts out at the same spot (see my last post for pic) at 33047kb. Very strange!!!

          Hi,

If it alway timeout at the same spot, added that you have use different OS, think it it your HDD gone bad during transportation.

Think everyone here agreed that your procedures of troubleshooting are 100% correct.

            Re: Canon 3220 w/ Fiery C1 v2.0 ISSUES

Hi everyone, Just want to share something. I once had the same problem with fiery but on 3200 series. I have checked the cables, modes, etc...
            One thing i have noticed...
when the 1st Fiery was connected to the machine, the one with 2digit LED. The problem is there. I keep waiting... waiting... waiting... and waiting... Then I replaced the Fiery (the one without the 2digit LED), then it works!!!
Although i'm really not familiar with the fiery, I only conclude (not really sure...) that if the machine is 3200 then the fiery should be the one without the 2digit LED. You say that your machine is 3220 and the fiery that i saw on your attached photo is the one without the 2digit LED, then maybe you should try to use the one with the 2digit LED. I don't have 3220, so i have never tested it yet.

            Good Luck!

updated LED Bios Codes= if the LED #2 & #1 are ON (RED) it is a Corrupt Bios

or the Bios chip has come loose in travel =1. Locate the BIOS chip on the motherboard (socket U4).
              2. Using a PROM extractor, remove the BIOS chip from its socket on the motherboard. & re-seat it--
              3. To replace the BIOS chip insert it into the socket so that the notch in the chip is aligned with the notch in the socket.
Make sure to align the pins on the chip with the holes in the socket. If you notice any bent pins, straighten them gently with a pair of needle nose pliers.
