Re: 5065 creasing the paper
thanks a lot for the advice,
i had already ordered new bearings and bushing for the unit when i noticed the crack on the fixing roller.
now its just a matter of waiting for the parts to arrive.

Re: 5065 creasing the paper
I've had them crack. Not sure if there is a tp on it but my thought is it has something to do with the new style element as I've never had a fuser roller crack that was heated by lampsLeave a comment:

Re: 5065 creasing the paper
It's sounds like fixing unit needs renovation.(bushings, fixing roller gear, ball bearings, presure roller,web.....).Make visual check and check counter.
*1 As the fixing roller is used more and more, its surface tends to become discolored because of heat. The change, however, will not affect the performance of the
roller. Also, note that the roller surface varies in color among manufacturers and the fact will not affect the roller performance.
*2 As the pressure roller is used more and more, its rubber surface can start to discolor. The change, however, will not affect its performance or output images.
Further, the physical properties of the roller can permit its surface to start to wrinkle. The roller, however, is free of wrinkles when it is heated and its performance
will not be affected, thus not requiring replacement.
*3 Replace simultaneously with fixing roller. When you replace bushings, apply about 20 mg of grease (Molykote HP-300; CK-8012) on the inner and outer surfaces
of the bushing until there is a white coating covering the entire sources.
Periodic time for fixing parts is 500 000.Leave a comment:

Re: 5065 creasing the paper
not sure how i missed this the first time, but im pretty sure that this is the cause/ part of the problem?

any insight as to why a fixing roller would crack?Leave a comment:

Re: 5065 creasing the paper
Did you replace lower fuser roller bearings? They're likely to cause your wrinkling. Also check upper bushings. They cause a bunch of problems. I doubt the inlet sensor flag is causing wrinkling.Leave a comment:

5065 creasing the paper
I have a 5065 that is wrinkling/ creasing the paper.
ive tried switching cassettes and printing from the manual feed, the result is always the same.
I cleaned the inlet guide and as much built up crud as i could from every component i could think of, checked the lower pressure roller and it seemed okay, but lubricated the bearings any way, replaced both the pressure roller and the cleaning web.
it still creases the paper.
i tried performing a nip check but was having some difficulties... i think that i am missing a step somewhere.
any suggestions?
i think that this piece might be the culprit... but it seems too small to cause suh a large problem (see attached image)

I think it is a sensor actuator with a small wheel on the end? Plastic wheel was severely deformed/ melted and crumbled away when i examined it further. could this cause the paper to crease?Tags: None
