    irc5180

Odd problem. drop a document in the feeder, the arrow lights, press start, immediate jam indicator (feeder jam). doesn't even try to pull original. Customer said they would swap the whole feeder (fine by me). They called today and said they did the feeder swap. Guess what, still does the same thing. What? Has anyone seen this? Oh, and when it shows the jam, have to cycle power to get it to clear. Can still print and copy from the glass, but as soon as you try the feeder again, same thing. Every time.

I will see if I have a sm on this one.....is it something the customer can do? This is a copy shop and he knows how to get around service mode......

Just can't figure out what on the machine would cause a feeder jam.....

Plus, had a heater hose break last night and my arm was under it, so right now my forearm/wrist is wrapped for a 2nd degree burn. joy. so if i can walk them thru trying that, it would sure help....have the 3200 sm but not 4080/5185.....guessing it would be under the feeder portion?

DF was swapped > shows same symptom >

1-check your open/close detection sensor & lever position > this is on reader frame above glass in upper left corner

2-who did the swap ? a tech ? > printer must be powered off & unplugged from outlet before removing df interface cable/ and inserting DF interface cable of swapped unit-

customer did the swap. Said he powered off upon removal/ installation. I too was figuring maybe something to do with the open close switch on the machine. Looks like the arrow would never light. but haven't tried it. Looks like I will just have to go out there later. Would probably have to find the relation of the switch to the jam error though. That is about the only common thing I could think of as I thought all sensor related stuff would have been dealt with in the feeder control board, but the swap should have taken care of it. Is there just one switch....maybe it is broken....
          thanks!

Dropped in quickly today, didnt have much time. Didn't noticed anything out of the ordinary. no problem until you try to use the feeder. drop in the original, arrow lights, push start, immediate jam indicator. Must cycle power to clear. Feeder swap did not cure the problem. That has me really confused. Will try to go back tomorrow. The SM doesnt really point me any direction that I can find........Has to be a board on the reader or main unit, but cant grasp that. Why only a jam signal......
