[Misc] Canon IRC3380 A4/A6 Scan Issue

    Hi there,
Looked at this box today and I'm at my wits end.
Ltr size paper on glass, go to send (scan) and A4 pops up in little ikon box.
I assume this should read AUTO.
All paper draws are set correctly.
This only happens when orignal is placed on glass to send to desktop. Copying is fine.
Result is a reduced copy sent to desktop.
How do I get my wits back.
    Thanks.

Re: Canon IRC3380 A4/A6 Scan Issue

Check your Original Size Detection Sensors under glass-

    + check the
    Copyboard Cover Sensor=
Copyboard Cover Sensor (front, PS502; rear, PS503) Detection Signal used to indicate the state (open/closed) of the copyboard cover.

    Copyboard Cover Fully Closed

After the copyboard cover sensor has identified a "closed" state, the machine checks for a change in the
output level of the original sensor (CCD point of detection) for 3 sec. If there is no change in the level of
output, the machine identifies the condition to indicate the presence of an original.
The machine uses combinations of changes in the levels of 6 locations to identify the size of the original:

check the open/closed sensor lever arm

Also check the send preferances for paper size set up. Some will either default to 'A' sizes or may have been changed inadvertantly by the user, especally as you say copying is fine.

        Hey thanks guys,
You know now that I am thinking of the two ORIGNAL SENSORS, I recall only seeing one.
        #1 is an open slot.
        Should this be?

Yes it should be open as you are in the Nth American market so it should be set up fo inch size. The combination of which sensors are covered determins what paper size is detected when on the 'Auto' select.

Daft question but did you check the send preferences on the scanning as you said in the original post copying was fine? As you knoe when scanning the send preferences decide what the user sees at the other end.

              Thanks for the classroom theory.
OK, customer has three of these boxs. Two IRC3480's which have this issue and a IRC3380 which works fine.
I have to assume there is a scan setting somewhere I am missing.
I checked Model SZ in service section and that is set to inch.
Scan to mailbox and A4 pops up otherwise IRC3480's work flawlessly.
Scan to mailbox on IRC3380 and I get the correct paper setting of LETTER or 11x17.
Is there a hard reset without loosing network and customer settings?

                try this on the 3480's

keep open cover>place LTR doc. on glass>
look for that open/close cover small lever>
hold down lever>leave cover open> scan doc to mailbox

u may see a message to select paper size because of light reflection

                report back

note- what happens if u scan in LTRr direction or 11x17 paper ???

When I hold down lever it will go to A3.
I'll check on the ltrr placement but I beleive that screwed up to. Go figure.
                  Oh this may be related.
Copy a legal size thru ADF and it will ask for 11x17 everytime and of course jam.
And when I select legal rather than auto to get it to work it will enlarge as if it were a ledger size.
Paper size flags on adf seem to be ok.
All paper drawers (two) are set to correct paper size. Letter & Legal.

Upon reviewing your posts over the past several years, I see alot of talk about drivers and firmware issues.
Could this be the problem here?
Where two same models have same issues.
