Canon Scanners

Does anyone have any experience in these?
I have one here at the shop we use for receipts etc. that says "voltage error in the imprinter" and an E-15 on the display every once in a while. reboot it and shes good to go.
It does not have an imprinter option. Im using the capture perfect 3.0 software and thinking it might be that.
Any help would be great, as the office manager is climbing up my last nerve.

maybe a staple has shorted voltage to imprinter connection inside scanner. disassemble and clean inside circuit boards etc with small magnet, or vacuum.

could be the PU 80 board in the scanner as well gone faulty.
