Hi all
I attended an IPF5100 which was producing strange colour output.
After running the nozzle check pattern, the right printhead printout blocks was perfect however the Left print head blocks were completely missing - all of them, just a few smudges here and there.
I checked the ink tubes to make sure ink was getting to the head which it was.
Anyway, I recommeeded they replace the Left printhead.
They replaced the Left printhead after upgrading the firmware and run the nozzle check pattern again.
This time the Left print head block came out all except for one of the cyan colours in the 'B train'. Cleaning cycles made no difference.
I suspected it may be a bad printhead as all the other colours came out fine.
They replaced the LEft printhead again but the same outcome - the same cyan in the 'B train' was completely missing.
In the troubleshooting guide this is referred to a 'Total non-discharge in a train' and is an electrical fault.
I returned to site armed with the carriage relay PCB and flex cable. Neither solved the problem.
The only next step I can think of is to replace the main controller which is very expensive.
I am not 100% sure this is going to fix the problem and am anxious about spending so much money on a new controller!
Has anyone else experienced this before?
