Is the interface slow and unresponsive? If so, replace the dimms of Main Controller 1 and reinstall software.

If only ouput is slow, there could be something wrong in the fixing film. Take to much time to heat up/cool off.

Use Self Diagnostics tool to locate issue. If you get OK result try with initialize user settings.

It is happening for copying even if the network is disconnected if that makes any difference? Happens across all PC's too.

Sound like you need a new hard drive and a fresh install of the system software. Had a machine doing the same thing, that is how I finally resolved it. You could try taking the hard drive out of the other machine if they are the same and see if it resolves the problem.

You may have to ask for anything I don't mention! The copier is networked, printing and copying is affected and at present we have no network speed or performance issues elsewhere - it runs on a static IP on a fully GBit LAN. The printing is done from a Server 2008 R2 share on the latest drivers. The copier firmware has not been altered since install in Jan 2012. We don't use any fiery devices - I will try disconnecting from the network and see what happens

The slow one does speed up a little after a reboot cycle, but is still not as fast as the other - it is literally taking 8-10 minutes to make 30 copies of a one-sided A4 B&W page. Users have no access to settings, I am the only one who has admin access and I've never changed anything since install. Nothing shows up on Google so advice is welcome! Our support company is also a bit stuck at moment and our staff are getting understandably frustrated
You probably need to POST a bit more info to get a more informed reply from the Big Guns, like - Network, Fiery, Software Programs, when NOT connected to Network does the copy speed return etc. Otherwise install latest Firmware & try removing & reseating Memory Dimms.
