Empty the waste toner bottle and clean the neck out. It's located on the left side of the machine.
Like the United States Postal Service It's a miracle it works!

Make sure the small windows are clean in the neck of the bottle as the sensor looks through these,if they are soiled with toner it gives a false reeding ie E0019,to clear this code use *28* to access service codes, press funtions next to adjust, then press clear, error and ok,job done.

        E019 error.

If you've emptied the toner waste bottle and reset the error code but get a call back in a few weeks or months, especially if the bottle is only partially filled, you probably should clean the sensor send and receive unit in the machine. We've seen this more than a few times.

First, you need check if yuor machine have a network conector, is place near parallel port, then you have to check which boot you have installed in machine (you can check it by presing *28*, on control panel, then select copier, and inthe first menu you press version and you will see the version of the machine, xx.xx , and the letter behind tell you if is a "c", the boot is for a copier normal, if there is a "N", the boot is for a network enviroment; bee carefull, if you have a "c" boot and you tray to change to "N" whit sst, it may not work, so you will have to change it physiclic.
If you have "N" boot, but theres not network conector, theres no problem you can conect your machine wiht parallel in to a pc and them share it on the network.
You can download drivesfor:Canon U.S.A. Drivers & Downloads Index page

Our techs have been drilling the small windows out (Canon UK techs have said this is OK to do) of the waste toner bottles as this avoids the erroneous detection of the toner, however because of this we have had to make sure that the bottles are emptied at regular intervals to avoid them becoming overfilled.

Thanks n2b, that is very interesting.
Could you now try a little experiment, please?
Switch on the printer with the new cartridges.
Start the reset tool. See if it runs (you should be able to read the ink levels and print a test page).
If that is ok, leave it running and re-install your old cartridges.
Now see if you can perform a reset.
You could also try only changing one cartridge at a time, because it may be that only one of them has been 'switched off'.
Let us know how you get on.
