IRC2380i Barcode Printing Kit

I have a customer that has asked me to supply & fit a barcode printing kit A1 for their irc2380, however I have never heard of this accsessory or how to fit it or what it does etc!
Has anyone out there got any info on this unit?

Its just a license that lets you print various barcode fonts, you will also need a PCL kit installed for it to function

Thanks for the info. This is an i model & they can print so does it still need the pcl kit? & how to I enter this licence?

I believe the I models came standard with PCL so you should be good with that, you can confirm by hitting the counter check button, than check device configuration Tab it will show up in there.

Not sure you can still order the license from Canon as its an older model. but search Barcode print kit A1or its item number 9914A001AA. you may be able to purchase one online. be sure to get a new one not a transferred one as there are some shady sellers out there on the interweb. than just follow the instructions on the certificate it comes with. you basically go to a website enter the license number and serial number of your machine and it generates a 24 character code you input into the machine and reboot and your done.

That sounds quite straight forward. Is it something my customer can do themselves? I could post him the kit & he can follow the instructions? As they are a few hundred mile drive away.

Depends on the Customer... Any IT-Like guys (m/v) there ? If they closely follow instructions (and have the dicipine to do so) they should be fine i think, it's not rocketscience...

You don`t really need an IT guy, it`s just that they `know` how to ad licencekeys (ie Windows prod.keys) any smart guy would do i guess.....

Not shure if you could do it remote, i think it should be (webinterface)....

Is it litterally going to a website, entering the A1 Kit key, that generates another number, then I enter that number into the ir2380!?

Yes ,i did the same for PS Licence on a i5035. You register and you get an activation key. That you enter when adding an installed package/licence. Don`t know the menuchoice of the 2380 by hart, sorry...

It`s : management settings - licence/other - register/update software (well, on a 5000 series. Doubt this menu differs much).

Btw: must be admin !!
