    [Jamming] New IRAC2230i Jamming!

Went to a brand new irac2230 today, only done a few hundred prints & is jamming from trays 1 & 2 it's been happening since the install a few days ago (see attached jam history)

Obviously all the feed rollers etc are new, it basically doesn't pick the paper, its a bit intermittent, paper quality is good.

Has anyone else had an issue like this with a new machine? I'm not exactly sure where to start! I removed both PF units, cant see anything broken etc.

You can try to use manual tray if it is jamming too it could be a registration clutch problem......

It's not picking up the paper at all so it cant be a registration issue, jam code is 0105

Paper is not being picked up on both trays 1 & 2, tray 1 has A3, tray 2 A4.

It is a little intermittent, I'm wondering if it's a paper issue, has anyone found this series to be fussy on paper type?

          Hi

From what i know the IRAC20XX & IRAC22XX only do plain 80 gsm.

We have had issues with tray 2 jamming but thats usually because someone doesn't fit the paper separation assy for tray 1 properly.

Another issue we had was the lifting gear breaks (30 T) (FE4-3901-000) on the back of the paper trays, that lifts the paper to the pick rollers.
The gears have been upgraded to metal gears.... see pic below.....

I had this issue not too long ago on both cassettes. For tray 1 (which was a 250 sheet tray) it wouldn't feed at all. Also the bypass was a dead stick. Replacing the Feed Driver PCB fixed the issue. I pulled my hair out with this one! Also i have seen some machines with the wrong sep roller assemblies arrive at the warehouse, but since your bypass isn't working i guess this wouldn't be the case.

I would definately check the paper. I had a customer who kept complaining about jamming on a C2020. I had been there several times for the same issue. They were using some chinese recycled paper which the machine just didn't like. So they switched paper and the jamming continued. I returned with my supervisor, only to discover that the paper they switched to was WBMason WhiteBox paper. The paper was just horrid. MY supervisor explained the paper issue, and recommended they start using Premium paper, as i have in the past. They switched over to Hammermill premium; and viola! No calls for atleast the last 5 months!

                Hi

I except that the machine can feed up to 220 gsm, but can you do 100 full color copies / prints on 220 gsm without having copy quality issues, jaming and or image not fusing properly.

We have been running these machines for a while now, and i could easily say id'e rather work on an IR 3100cn (worst machine in history).

                cheers,

I would expect the machine to do that job with no problems. I service about 150 of these machines and generally only replace the drums and feed rollers very close to 100% ,the itb assembly will do 200% or more and the fuser keeps going till it stops. the machine has problems with 250 page cassette 1 not recognising lift ( mod for that ) and the black felt coming off in the fuser and causing jams ( just remove it and discard ). I have replaced several three way units because of broken guides ( the small actuator on flapper breaks ) but the flapper is available. I agree the 3100 was a dog. unfortunately I still have 2 of those to fix...uuuggghh.
