[Misc] Why are C4080 Fixing unit drawers hard to shut?

Why does this occur? If it doesn't shut all the way the open flap is turned up and sometimes gear noise can be heard with an error code. Slamming it shuts it all of the way.

They are all the same, probably because that awful fuser unit is so heavy so needs a good shove to close it!

      don't slam, u probably have a bent/damaged right side lock plate latch/
it screws in/ same # front and read
u can SWAP in emergency to close unit

or It is possible that the rails on the fixing feed assembly can bend from the weight of the unit when fully opened and when paper jams are removed.

There are four rails in total; two on the fixing feed unit and two on the machine side. The part numbers for the rails that bolt on to the Fixing/Feed Unit are FL2-4242-000 and FL2-4241-000.

The part numbers that bolt on the machine side where the above rails slide in is shown in the diagram below.

They are FL2-4244-000 which is the front rail on the machine side and FL2-4243-000 which is the rear rail on the machine side. See the diagram below:

Please note that these rail part numbers in this articles pertain only to the fixing / feed assembly side (left side of the machine) and not the Multi-Feed Assy on the right side of the machine.
