    Re: IPF 710 2F2F

    2F2F (by printhead)
Nozzles may get damaged due to printhead short-circuit and data missing non-ejection by 320 nozzles
may occur. If there are a lot of damaged nozzles, missing (non-ejection) area will increase by 320 nozzles.
If non-ejection detection operation is executed with printhead in this situation, non-ejection error will be
displayed. Missing (non-ejection) areas and columns differ depending on the areas of nozzles damaged.

2F2F (by printhead and CR relay PCB)
Some resistance on the CR relay PCB may be damaged due to printhead short-circuit. In that case,
ejection signal to the specific printhead nozzles will not be output. Therefore, even if the printhead is
replaced to brand-new one, image missing occurs as there is no ejection signal from this CR relay PCB. If
the image is missing when non-ejection detection is executed, non-ejection detection error will be displayed.
Printhead and CR relay PCB need to be replaced at the same time.

2F2F (by print head and main controller PCB)

Some resistance on the main controller PCB may be damaged due to printhead short-circuit. In that case,
ejection signal to the specific nozzles will not be output. Therefore, even if the printhead is replaced to
brand-new one, image missing occurs as there is no ejection signal from this main controller PCB. If the
image is missing when non-ejection detection is executed, non-ejection detection error will be displayed.
Missing (non-ejection) areas and columns differ depending on the resistance(s) damaged.
Printhead and main controller PCB need to be replaced at the same time.

Well, it's been a few years since I've worked on Canon wide format machines, so I don't know how much this will help. Also, these suggestions are just what should be checked first for problems like this, so you've probably already tried them.
Still, anytime you have a weird problem on the machine, turn it off and unplug it. If you haven't tried that yet, do that now. Plug the machine in later on tomorrow and see what happens. At least back in the day that used to help with some weird problems, especially if there were energetic storms or construction in the machine's area recently (at least out here in this part of the periphery, storms and construction are a lot more frequent this time of year).
Double check the literature you used to order the print head to insure you have the correct one for your machine.
Remove and reinstall the print head, in case it just isn't seated correctly.
Order a new print head from Canon and install it. If that fixes the problem and you ordered the print head you have right now directly from Canon, see if you can get warrantee credit for that.
Hope that helps, and sorry if it doesn't.

by the way, i'm thinking about why on earth the nozzle check doesn't show all yellow + black nozzles
and only shows half of them
i guess there is some kind of problem with that which is causing me this whole headache, any ideas guys?

    Non-discharge detection error 2F2F

As a result of nozzle checking made by the non-discharge detection unit:

    - All 640 nozzles in a nozzle train are non-discharging.
    - At least 50 nozzles have been found mismatched in a nozzle train of 640 nozzles since the last session of detection.

The change (between non-discharging and discharging nozzle counts) noted since the last session of nozzle checking is recorded as a mismatch.

Please follow the steps below to determine the cause for the error:

    1. Turn off printer, wait, and then turn on again.
    2. Check the tubes to see if it is filled with ink, and also check the joints.
    3. Check to see if the linear encoder film is properly installed.
    4. Check the linear encoder film for defects (such as soiling, flaws and incorrect setup).
    5. Check to see if there is not any foreign mater near the non-discharge sensor.
    6. Check service mode nozzle patterns.
    7. Check to see if the ink is a genuine supply. (Recommend the use of the genuine ink).
    8. Perform manual Print Head Cleaning A & B and check nozzle patterns again.
    9. Check the face of the Print Head (to see if it is not flawed by paper or foreign matter).
    10. After removing and inserting the print head, start in service mode to clear the error. Then, restart the printer in normal mode to check to see if the error recurs.
    11. Check Flexible cable with Flat Cable Checker (FCC Checker) for possible micro cracks.

In some cases air, instead of ink, passes through Head Management Sensor during nozzle check and the sensor does not detect ink. Reseating or replacing the Print Head and cleaning or replacing the Head Management Sensor could resolve this issue.

    FCC Checker AY3-4504-000

    ------------------------------------------------------
Canon has added a protective mylar to the Linear Scale parts supply.
If it is not removed, the above error code may appear intermittently.
The scale is blurred with this mylar attached, causing Linear Encoder to falsely read it. Please remove it prior to installing a new scale and/or check to see if one is mounted on the existing printer.

    also//
Make sure the ink tubes mounted to the Sub Tank are aligned properly
If one or more tubes is restricted >it will not fill with ink.
The picture below shows the correct mounting position.

    guys,
this plotter was working okay before, (although giving 2f2f / 2f26 errors from time to time) but now after replacing the print head, it's giving 2f2f / 2f26 persistently and keeps replenishing with ink etc and never works

    the nozzle check is attached

although it's a brand new print head, any idea?
