How to add User authentication information in Ubuntu

Konica Minolta biz c368 installed in Ubuntu using PPD driver from KM site.

Print jobs status shows job completed. Status light blinks for a while when print is send but could not print. User authentication is enabled on machine with a lot of users. Could not find any option in printer interface where i could enter user authentication information so that it start printing.

Looking for simplest and easy way to make it work. Unable to print.

KM Europe have made a Linux CUPS driver (ver 1.20) that supports the same features as in the Windows driver.
      Download Center | KONICA MINOLTA

Or you could allow print without authentication if that is ok for the customer.

Thank you very much for sharing this information. I have downloaded and installed drivers available on Europe download center. Yes, you are right! These drivers have the options to enter user authentication information but.....its not printing using these drivers.

After installing PPD of relevant model when i print test page or anything it says printing stopped and red exclamation mark appears on printer icon. In status it says "PPD filter files are not copied in usr/lib/cups/filter folder" i have copied these files in correct folder and they are there.but print gets fail and this error shows up every time. I have root privileges and cups services are running.

        any suggestions?

Well, my knowledge of Linux is very limited. I have only installed this driver once in Ubuntu using the automatic installation (install.pl) and that worked.

hi, try to downgrade with the function dipswitch.
Try switching from 4.2 to 4.1, from 4.1 to 4.0 etc.

Re: How to add User authentication information in Ubuntu

Hi, the Ubuntu driver may not be updated to the function of the machine.

Currently I don't know your firmware but if you have the latest firmware, the version should be 4.2

So what I suggest you is to set up a previous printer version. Access the Service Mode and in the Dipswitch section change the 25.

You can change the hexadecimal values:
HEX B0 -> 4.2 does not work? Go to the previous one:
HEX A0 -> 4.1 does not work? Go to the previous one:
                HEX 90 -> 4.0
                etc.

I advise you to make this attempt.

By downgrading its firmware version user authentication options will be available in printer interface?

Re: How to add User authentication information in Ubuntu

                    I'm sorry, I didn't understand.

However for the downgrade you have to go into the service mode. The new interface goes up to version 4.0

The downgrade only affects the functions, not the engine.

edit: maybe I understand. The authentication functions should remain, there are no problems.
