Re: Bizhub 364e HDD/SDD replacement
Nope, no good.
It doesn't seem to care if the drive is plugged in or not, it just doesn't want to let me uninstall it.
I press [Not Installed] and wait, and .... nothing happens.
I know the screen isn't locked up, since the keypad numbers register touch, and I can still back out of the screen with the [End] button.
Very strange....
I guess I'll just leave it installed, since the new drive is supposed to be here tomorrow.
It didn't do this until I updated to the new firmware, could that have anything to do with it? Maybe the function 7 software assumes the HDD is installed and won't hear otherwise?Comment

Have you ever done a clear all data yet on this machine? If not, I'd definitely suggest that and maybe it will clear up some of the issues you're having.

C-D010 and 011 errors mean that the device has lost communication with the HDD.
You may have disconnected the cables before turning off the HDD in CE mode.
I also do not recommend deleting partitions and formatting by a Windows computer.
Check the SATA version for SSD, it should be 6.05 and try to find some repair FW for SATA.
In my opinion, you tortured the HDD.
Good luckComment

Re: Bizhub 364e HDD/SDD replacement
Thanks for the advice guys, but there's no HDD involved. It doesn't make any difference if the drive is physically installed or not, I can't change the setting either way.
When I first received this machine, and the drive wasn't in there at all, I was able to switch it to "not installed" with no problem, and then everything worked fine.
Since then, I've tried reinstalling the unallocated (used) drive, and it just won't accept it.
A brand new drive is arriving tomorrow. I'll give that a shot.
As for the "clear all data" option, will that screw up anything to do with the firmware update I just installed?
What exactly does it "clear"?
If it's not too invasive, I may go ahead and do that in preparation for installing the new drive tomorrow.Comment

Re: Bizhub 364e HDD/SDD replacement
since there is nothing in the address book you are using, its a good idea to reset to factory default settings.
sometimes fixes network issues.
you have the movie data to reload because it also wipes the HDD and sometimes uninstalls it like i mentiond a few pages ago.
well as a last resort you can try just initializing the whole damn enchilada.
service mode, system 2, initialize, system data clear (the top left one)
after reset, make sure HDD is set to "installed" if its at "not set" hit installed. dont be alarmed it takes up to 30 seconds for the selection to switch to installed.
reboot, LOGICAL format HDD
then try firmware again.
good luck!!We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.

Re: Bizhub 364e HDD/SDD replacement
It sets all the settings that can be changed in administrator and utility modes back to factory defaults. It basically clears everything you see in the photo I posted above (that's from a 364e we have in the shop). When we get machines back on trade in, the first thing we do is the clear all memory to make sure there are no issues before it's sold to the next customer. Much better to start from scratch than to deal with potential issues created by the previous owner.Started in the copier service business in the fall of 1988 and worked at the same company for 33.5 years, becoming the senior tech in 2004 but left to pursue another career on 4/29/22.Comment

Re: Bizhub 364e HDD/SDD replacement
Ok, all data cleared.
After reboot, the HDD is indeed uninstalled (nice!).
I'll wait for the new drive to come, hopefully later today.
When it does, do I switch it back to "installed" before or after physically installing the drive?
If I'm understanding you guys correctly, once the drive is in, and the HDD setting is set to Installed, I ignore the prompt at boot-up, go into CE mode and do only a logical install from there.
Is that correct?Comment

Re: Bizhub 364e HDD/SDD replacement
no, after you set it to installed reboot.
the message should be the format or encryption message again.
then just go into admin mode and the first thing that pops up should be the selections to do either.
just select format and when done you can then reinstall the movie data through the front panel USB port.

Re: Bizhub 364e HDD/SDD replacement
Sorry for the delay, my internet was down most of the day yesterday.
SUCCESS!!
I installed the new drive, formatted as instructed via Admin mode after rebooting, then installed the movie data from the front panel USB through CE mode.
Everything now appears to be fully up and running. No errors! I'm able to copy, scan to my network server, print from my various machines on the network, and admin the machine through the web console.
I'm a very happy camper indeed!
Thanks a ton to all those who helped in this thread and the other one.
Without your patience and assistance, there's zero chance I would have been able to struggle through this using only the Service Manual and User's Guides.
I intend to go back and makes a few updates to the OP, so that anyone finding this later with similar questions may not have to read through this whole thread, just to end up at the same place.
One only thing(s) I see left to do is maybe installing the other items that got purged out by installing the new drive.
The "install data" screen (and SM) lists things like OCR Fonts, PDF/A Fonts, voice data (huh?), and stuff like that.
Are any of those things that I can get from you kind folks?
More importantly, are any of them useful things I should care about?
Thanks again!

EDIT: Oh, I guess I can't edit the original post. Is there any way to get something attached to Post #1 by a Mod to save folks a ton of reading later?Comment

Woah, woah, WOAH! Back up the truck there! [emoji6] X4 & W5 F/W aren't for this model, those are for the 8 series. If the latest F/W (G20-M1) was installed on this 364e, then the function version should be SW25 set to 60 for F/V 7.Started in the copier service business in the fall of 1988 and worked at the same company for 33.5 years, becoming the senior tech in 2004 but left to pursue another career on 4/29/22.Comment

Re: Bizhub 364e HDD/SDD replacement
I never put any of those back on and have never had any customer have any issues without them.

I appreciate that last bit about the FW as well, since I was wondering about that version Syth mentioned.
I do indeed have vG20-M1 installed, and SW25 is set to 60, per the Svc Manual.
I checked the status panel, and it's showing Function 7, so I think I'm all good.
One last Q, maybe....
I notice that several of the consumables are showing at or beyond end of life. Is that one of those things that I ignore and run them until I see print quality issues (or get an error), or should I replace anything as PM to prevent damage to other components?Comment
