    Bizhub C250i Fusing

    Hello to all,
I have a problem with a Bizhub C250 not fusing : The top & bottom 2 inches of A3 and A4 prints will rub off on colour & K prints.
The pressure/retraction system is working fine so I fitted a new fuser & problem cured.
2 weeks later the same problem returned, so thinking that we had a faulty fusing unit I fitted another one & again the problem was cured, but it returned after 10 days.
I went back in last Thursday & increased the pressure between the rollers using the plates as shown by the red arrows, and the problem was instantly cured once again ..... until this morning when the customer phoned to say it was back again.
After 30 years in this job I'm baffled, has anyone seen this on the C250i machines ?

    Regards ..... Gary.

What are temperature readings in service mode, did you tried to increase fusing temperature?

        Thanks for replying.
I did raise the fuser temp, right up to maximum but that didn't help at all.
We couldn't have received 2x faulty fusing units. Who knows ?

        Regards ..... Gary

I would swap fusers between 2 machines...

            Hi Garry,

Silly Question, are they using Original Konica toner?

If all else fails read the Service Manual!

If that fails, meet me at the pub and we will discuss it.

Konica has some new style fusing units for the i series machines. The part# for the C250i is AA2JR75200. If you got one of those, they recommend you update to the latest firmware and turn on engine FW switches 12 and 40. There is also a small metal plate you may need to install, depending on the directions that come with the fuser.

                  WOW! Thanks everybody.
I checked the UK KM site for bulletins last week but found nothing. I've just been back there only to find that KM have changed everything around, but I managed to find the relevant bulletin on the new portal.
The bad news is that I didn't find the metal plate in the fuser unit box, so I must have thrown it ?. There was certainly no instructions in the box, I always check in case any changes to installation have been made. Once again, thanks to you all.

                  Regards ..... Gary.

                      Hello tsbservice,
The fuser I ordered was AA2JR70422 and it is marked as a MkII. I have downloaded the latest parts manual ( APRIL 2024 ) and it has a new part number : AA2JR75300
I've also found a number for the adjustment plates.

                      Regards ..... Gary.

AA2JR70422 is old style fuser. AA2JR75300 is new style and you should do settings accordingly.

The fuser is definitely marked as a new one so I'm guessing that KM just send the new ones regardless of the part number.
I'll sort the settings out & hope for the best.
                          Regards ..... Gary.

I've had this issue before and it was the PSU. Its also worth checking that the CPU is fitted correctly and there is no gap or tilt.

                            Might be worth a look.

                            Thanks
