    [Misc] 750i wasting toner...

Hi anyone experiencing excessive toner usage on the 750i's?

New machines seems to create a massive amount of waste. Took about 7KG or about 15 pounds removed from 4 machines today average of 150K print per machine. It seems out of proportion to what I am used to seeing. Its a customer with 10 of them and toner does not get booked to individual machines so I am waiting on the total volume and total toners used to get an idea.

I should be able to check on the management list the frequency of new toner article detection and do the math but that idea eluded me today. Coverage right at 5% more like 4.5% on these machine all printing legal documentation.

I normally try to find a machines saturation point by lowering the TCR, max density and charge voltage incrementally, so busy doing that now. On these I went hard, -3(-1.5%) on TCR -2 on print and copy density out of -10 to 10 and +1 on background removal AKA charge voltage.
    Whatever

Is this OEM toner? FW lvl on all MFP's? What is the voltage reading in table 1 and 2?

Have not seen this issue only thing we have seen is that all the prints and everything look super light on B&W and color MFP's too, brand new out of the box and even ran for a year then the 4 and 8 series.

Have not had issues with light printing, but yea could be bad transfer...

I did not check the current FW ver but will double check out team installing the would have pushed the latest FW, sure they do not read the release notes on set any SW... Will need to investigate its a batch of 10 machine doing the same. If and when I get back there I will check the voltages to be diligent.

Also I found 4 half used bottles on site and requested that the empties be kept for collection. They will be refilled and reICP'd.

Strictly OEM toner. But found that toners like TN516J to be inferior to TN513. With the prior toner collecting on PCR's and the latter not...

I wish <toner save> mode was more comprehensive but no it just reduces the amount of dots produced...

I haven't noticed this but KM fills up it's waste bottles quite quickly in general, this is partially wanted "by design" - take a look at the dev unit, it has a nozzle going straight into the waste area. KM toner also contains a certain amount of dev increase the dev unit lifespan on the downside the dev unit needs to get rid of dev wich ends up in the waste toner.

Perhaps you noticed that a full waste toner feels quite heavy for it's size - that's because it also contains dev.

I think if you sum up the total prints and devide it through the numbers of toner used there is no reason to worry at all.

Yea that has past my mind but if i can reduce toner usage without damage or complaint...
No complaints from the before mentioned customer so I will continue to look for the sweet spot.
            Time will tell.

I found this design daemonic. They are self healing. Developer self refreshing is best feature ever by far!

You gotta love brands where starved iron powder takes its way and works into machine...

allan I will take a look at my notes and see how it goes, great minds are alike

I have to agree on that 🙂 and that the dev replenish tech made a devtank went from 300K now all the way to where it gets strip for spares and eco-dumped at 2M.
                Amazing.

Well other brands like ricoh IMC3000 series also has pretty "longlife" dev units. Since the print volume is going downhinn most machines wont hit a total count >200k before EOL so it's not uncommon to see returners with initial units.

Ok wow yea you can tune the Image density to -4 and hardly go into saturation. I set both print and copy to -4, Image background to +1 and reduce the TCR by 1.5%. Waste boxes much lighter and now running 20% below expected yield. Yet to just use SW240. Will do that on our closer to home machines next. 20% saving on toner ain't nothing!

Still found half used toners as I requested the customer to keep all empties. After switching of toner low warnings that should also disappear. Next I will run thru all the machines and pull management reports to divide the total new TCR article detection number into total counters just to be exact. USB thumb drive will work just fine for this.

Hope the TBU does not run to dry but... one out of 12 blades flipped on me.
