Officially 10.12-11 have drivers but.... they can use postscript so it would be possible to make it work on any of them.

Thanks, but I have no access to your link.
Any additional information? Any problems to expect with using the BH-C-284e in an Apple environment?

There is a whole bunch of "nice to have" items. Usually we do the following:
        1. Install print drivers
        2. Use System Preferences to add the printer manually. By default it will try to use multicast and Bonjour. Make sure to set all options (bases and finishers, ect.)
        3. Once installed use a web browser to navigate to http://127.0.0.1:631 (the CUPS interface). All the useful settings are hidden away in here.
        4. Edit the newly created printer.
        5. Change the URI to: ipp://<ip of printer here>/ipp?waitjob=false&waitprinter=false <- This makes the Mac print right away instead of waiting for a job to complete.
        6. Set any wanted print defaults in CUPS. We like to set the paper arrangement setting to prioritize productivity to speed up printing.
        7. Send a test page from CUPS to confirm it is working.
