    Firmware

How does everyone else upgrade the firmware if it's really old? For example, if my current level is 6 levels down, we step it up to the current level. There are some levels we skip, like if there are multiple levels N#, we'll do one in that set of "N" and go up to the next lettered set ("N" is a completely arbitrary number I picked for the example). Or, are people keeping their fingers crossed and just jumping from whatever level they have to the latest? I've seen so many posts asking for the current firmware level but that may not be what they need or they may need a lot more than just the most current. Sure, ideally the machines would be kept current but stuff happens or maybe you don't see a machine for a year or two.

    Re: Firmware

with the xx4 series and newer i always jumped to the newest when needed.
from the xx3 series and primitive Di series and before, it was recommended to upgrade in steps.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
    The medication helps though...

      Same here.

+2 with what Synthohol posted. As machines get older I leave well enough alone and don't update F/W if no issues.

For the 4e series it is important you check the SSD level is higher than V6.03 first & update that before the main firmware.

For the i series also first check it has the storage board update (there is a bulletin on this) then update the main firmware.

For the 8 series you can update from factory factory firmware to the latest without any issues.
