I- Series Continued IQ issues (C3350i,C3320i,C4000i)

    Afternoon all,

Im sure we have all seen the multiple post and issues with the desktop/A4 model units. We have unfortunately have had to repalce a multitude if I.U's due to them dumping out all of the developer. Just wanted to get a line out to anyone to see what if any prevention methods you use/have used.

    Thank you!

Give it a good shake and turn the drive gear, Repeat 3 or 4 times. After initialisation do a dev agitation, and make sure the tray is out. Then do the calibration. Tends to work quite well. Every call you make run a dev agitation as well as a preventive maintenance. If unit is over life, forget it. Replace.

We store our extras on the shelf upside down. According to Konica, the issue is with developer and toner compacting to the bottom of the channel where the auger is and sticking there. Even after the machine initializes the unit and mixes everything it seems to still be stuck there so the sensor can't get an accurate reading of the toner concentration. This results in improper toner addition to the image unit.

Before with put them on the shelf, we give them a good shaking and maybe a few "love taps" in the upside down orientation, then put them on the shelf upside down. Can't compact in the area of the sensor if the sensor isn't on the bottom...

Before installation, we remove them from the box, flip them over and tap the bottom of the unit in the area of the sensor with the handle of a screwdriver, flip them upright, give them a good shake, remove the packing materials and install. We have been pretty successful with so far, with very few repeat issues ever since implementing this.

We have a few devices doing the same.

All on genuine toner, had to replace a complete set of IU's twice!

        Firmware on the latest.

They might last a few days or a month but always fail & the waste box is full again.

Let us eat, drink, and be merry, because tomorrow we may die!

I would also pull the high voltage board out and use a green scrubby to clean off the contacts.

I would like to know how I can recognize(from the outside/box) the modified IU's... unfortunately I can't find anything.

You asked valid question but hey 'modified' still are *rap you see in knova...

                P.S.
See femaster's comment on storing and pre-conditioning IUs, looks way better than usual KM bulshits.
