BH-C-284e with FK-511 Fax Kit, did I say I !HATE! fax??

This machine, BH-C-284e with FK-511, came in from a wholesaler with the Fax-Kit already installed. Cannot send any faxes out. Did of course the installation procedure once again together with the advised adjustments as in the manual about marketing region and the initialization of the fax card.

Machine will answer calls made with an analog phone to it, giving fax handshake as a result and can also call out analog phone numbers as well, so connection seems OK, but faxes no way. The telephone system is of course VoIP as are all lines here in Germany.

Any information from KonicaMinolta about such issues? Any advised setup instructions available about this Stone Age technologies? Customer insists on having this fax function, though making perhaps one fax per month.......

If I were you, I'd do an Initialization of the machine, then go back and set the Fax Kit (in SM) and then the Region to (whatever region you're in). Analog fax kits have trouble sending over VOIP lines, sometimes. I have one customer who still sends hundreds of faxes per month and they ended up having to install a POTS line (plain old telephone system) to get the faxes to go through properly. The line was shutting off too early in a 100-page fax and cutting off transmission. Hope this helps.

Know that setting Initialization will wipe out any and all customer data as well, like fax numbers and scan to email addresses. Those would have to be reprogrammed, unless you can do a backup beforehand.

        .02 here,
when i run into VOIP i use the on hook first to hear te dial tone.
if at first you get a short pulsed dialtone there is a voicemail waiting on that line and the 3 pulses happen when its trying to dial out.

dunno if you mentioned it but can you manually fax off hook?
sometimes they got away with using the pause function on the one touch numbers because you cant control who calls that # and if its busy from rx or tx'ing and they leave a VM its back to square 1.

i usually get on the phone with their telecom supplier and explain the issue and more times than not they come and change a card in the VOIP box or make a configuration change.

of course make sure the usb and 10? pin connector are plugged into fax 1 on the MFP panel.

        good luck!

Done from the very first beginning. I initialized the machine and I did the set-up as instructed in the manual.

No, that's what's worrying me. Today I have more time to invest in it. The machine is still in my workshop, and I was testing it before delivery. Would love to know what Konica Minolta advises in such cases. Any bulletins about this matter from them?

id compare the bit switch sheet from the management list of this and a working c284e
then look up any switch with a different bit and see if its related to fax.

lol, i use to love shit like this

btw, i have had a few 511s that must have let the smoke out. just swapped them from the lease return pile

Did you try the VoIP optimized settings from the "L. Teske Liste"?

+ sometimes you have to modify the RJ cable that only the inner/center wire pair is connected but I'd go with the settings first.

Are you using the KM fax cable that came with the FK - they've been known not to work with other cables...

No, the wide KM cables are landing always in the bin here. I use handmade two wire cables with modular plugs RJ10 4P2C to avoid crap like I have now.

I did not see this one. I had one that someone forgot to turn the hdd back on. Can send, can't receive faxes.
