Bizhub C224e OPC drum

Anyone know for sure why this might be happening?

I admit, I'm running C250 toner in this C224e. It was included in some surplus gear I got at auction. I figured, "a konica minolta is a konica minolta".

This is a replacement drum unit about 1.5 years old. It came in without a chip, so I had to order some replacement chips from Amazon.

It started doing this when I refilled the toner with the C250 stuff.

Am I a moron, or can someone confirm that I answered my own question?

You seem to answered your own question plus I believe C250 toner hasn't developer in it which long term wise will result in developer lose and things can be really traumatic then for not experienced.
Is the WTB full?

WTB, you mean Waste Toner Box? No, it's at about 10%. I always try to empty & clean it out with every toner change.

We usually see that when there is an issue with the development unit. Based on your own admission, I'd have to guess it's because the wrong toner is now in the development unit.

That happens moving back to original toner if CET toner was used. Yes it was your toner. You can dump all the developer...

Obviously, the tone would play a part. The drum colour is a little off colour. The original drum should be darker green, which would suggest a compatible drum/ rebuild and depending on the quality they can range from only 600 prints to 40k plus. Or it's simply that worn that it lost its colour. In any case, new dev unit, new drum, new original toner and vac out the hopper.

The problem is that the toner is caking up, even if you replace the cleaning blade the toner will simply stick to the cleaning edge causing the toner to smear on the drum.

Toner clumping may be due to the surrounding environment. Try keeping the temperature at around 59 degrees Fahrenheit.

I'm guessing your issue was indeed caused by using the c250 toner. You may not know this, but you can swap that black drum with any of the color drum units (simply swap the chips). This may help you troubleshoot your issue.

That's rather cold. Typical room temps average around 72, +/- a few degrees.
