I have successfully used 500gb SSD is eight series several times . I get them from Amazon for about $40.00
PNY CS900 500GB 3D NAND 2.5" SATA III Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - (SSD7CS900-500-RB)

I also think it's possible, but you have to find a type of SSD that has the SATA III communication protocol,
because that's what is in copiers.
The new SSDs communicate in PCIe, NVMe, etc. modes.
Additionally, they require other SATA drivers and adapters.
