Minolta Di-450 with Fiery Pi-5500, Scan question

Minolta Di-450 with Fiery Pi-5500, Scan question.

Customer doesn't like the way scans has to be collected from the Fiery through Webtools and using the mailboxes (me either).

Is there a way to go directly to the folder or the hard drive where the scans are stored? If browsing the network with Netscan the Fiery shows a folder called Admin$ but it needs a user and password to be opened. All known passwords do not work.

    Any ideas please?

Maybe put an HD into it and use the machines scanning? What is the Konica equivalent?

    Or you can Twain scan.
Color is not 4 times harder... it's 65,000 times harder. They call it "TECH MODE" for a reason. I have manual's and firmware for ya, course... you are going to have to earn it.

The folder that you have found is quite possibly what the Fiery shares out for the Fiery Downloader.

With that in mind, remember that the share has a $ sign at the end of it so it is a hidden share. It might be possible to use something like Wireshark to sniff out the password, but seeing as the Fiery uses a Linux based OS, it might be fairly hard.

As a guess, I would assume that the user name you be 'root' but I wouldn't have a clue as to what the password would be.

I can't remember if this Fiery is capable of FTP scanning either.

Seeing as the machine is really old, you might have a good oppotunity to upgrade the machine to something a little more modern with greater scanning capabilities.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.

Scan to email might be an option. I think its the easiest and most secure way to scan, especially if they don't require user authentification to send. Then all you need is their SMTP server ip address. Scan to folder requires user authentification to access the folder. And Owl's suggestion of FTP is better than scan to folder because their IT can set it up without user authentification.

          Thanks for the input guys.

This old beast (not yet ready for replacement since they are refurbished rentals which otherwise do their job perfectly) do not have Scan-FTP feature.

We just changed the controller from Pi-5501 to Pi-5500 cause of severe printing issues which are now solved with that Fiery server. However, the Pi-5501 has scan to FTP (the main reason we choose that from the beginning) but unfortunately the Pi-5500 doesn't.

Twain scanning doesn't seem to me a good option in this particular case but scan to e-mail might be a good suggestion and I will discuss that with their IT guy.

          Thanks again.

                Thanks StirtonM.

These instructions apply to the Pi-4700 for the Di-470 but I'm not sure if it works also for the older Di-450 with the separate Pi-5500 Fiery server. How can I check this please.

You could reinstall the software and thus start over with a new password.
