BizHUb C250 code C-D00C hard drive failure

I have to admit that I am not an expert on this model. To get rid of the code, I disconnected the HDD, went into service
and selected "HDD not installed". Cycled the power and it came back to life. The customer could scan, print, and copy.
They did loose their address book. I could hear the HDD doing a clicking type sound upon pwr up. (before disconnecting
the HDD) I taped on the drive to get it started, but no good. The book said reseat connectors and that was no help.
Is there anyway of retriving the info on the HDD at this point? I am not sure if they backed it up to their computer.
Is there a special HDD for this unit. It looks like a 40G laptop drive. I heard a rumor that I may not find that drive,
but that an 80 or 160G drive would work just as well.
I did not try any of the other Hdd programs to fix this problem.
Which format should be done first the mechcanical or the logical?

    Thanks

    DR
