    Bizhub 421/501

Our technicians are having a lot of these models shear the drive gears all the time, they rebuild the fuser units with new rollers bearings etc as per service manual schedule yet the gears fail after a couple of weeks again. Does anyone have a solution for this issue it would be greatly appreciated.

You are talking the gears behind the plate? We have only had a few break, after a million clicks. We clean that grease off of all shafts and use fuser lube to keep them from solidifying.

I have seen this problem when people reset the counter for the fuser life and don't replace the oil web and lubricates the gears on the back of the fuser. We replace the fusers with new fusers but the drive gears will break around a million ( i agree with the post above) I usually see the problem around 800k to 1 million. The shaft gets sheered off by the ball bearing locking up. The other thing is you have to replace all the gears at the same time not the one or two you see broken.
