    [Misc] C654e CCD Issues?

    Hi all,

    We had a C654e throwing a C9401 error a couple of weeks ago. After checking bulletins and speaking to tech support, we changed the CCD, cable and cable clamps. Since then, no error code.

    But.....

    Customer has now called in twice with:

    When scanning/copying double sided originals through the dual scan adf, every other page ie. page 2,4,6,8,10 is an unreadable, fuzzy mess!

    First call, we powered off/on and it corrected itself. We also stripped part of the adf to get to the reader to check and clean....all was ok. We rechecked the CCD and cable as well.

    This morning, a call in again from customer with same problem?

    Any ideas?

      For your new second side isssue,

      I have had the duel scan data cable fail in these too - It's not just the DF-701 that it happens in, though its rare.

      Thats what I would be replacing first. Failing that the CIS then the duel scan board + ribbon, failing that, MFP board.

          I agree with Earth KM. The CCD is used for side 1 images, so if you resolved your C9401's it is working. The side 2 images are scanned by the CIS using that cable. If you've already done the cable that leaves you CIS and MFP PWB in that order. The CIS and cable can also cause C9403, CDFA1, and C6753 errors: http://www.copytechnet.com/forums/ko...fa1-c6753.html

          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

              Seemed a bit weird that after replacing the CCD, we got a second problem of copy quality on the side twos through the adf?

                  i would go back over what you have done as you said it has only happened after you changed the CCD.

                  The second side would be read through the DF-701 as it is a dual scan doc feeder so the CCD will not come into play.

                      Probably just bad luck happening after a CCD replacement. The adf is actually the DF-702 ( attached to a C654e )
                      One of our engineers has just revisited and it's still giving the problem. If you power the machine down and back on, it corrects itself....for a while.
                      We have a second C654e on site and may swap adfs to eliminate MFP/PWBs.

                          least the CIS cable to the Dual scan board is a lot easier to replace in the 754 series vs the 364 series

                              Was this issue ever resolved? And if it was what did you do to fix the problem?

                                  The dual scan problem was never resolved. We replaced virtually every component in the machine!!

                                  The machine was swapped......
