    DP-772 Skew Jam

    Need some help!

We got a DP-772 that is throwing a jam "Skewed originals fed." The paper is stopping right at the registration rollers. The registration rollers will not engage and the lift tray drops.

This was after replacing the following:
    DP SHD PWB
    DP Main PWB
    All sensors in DP
    All motors in DP

When running sim 243, all operations run correctly. When running sim 203, with the option of no paper loaded, we can run it and then slide a piece of paper in and it will run correctly... no problems. Any other method of testing with paper in the tray, we get the above mentioned results of skewed original fed.

Checked voltage to the feed sensor and the skew sensor, both registering at 3.3 volts.

Also, this is now being tested on our machine. It came from a customers machine, so the machine has been ruled out as well.
If anyone has any idea whatsoever, would love to hear them.

    Re: DP-772 Skew Jam

I would start by disabling the skew detection in U460 or by [System menu] > [Common] > [Error handling setting] > [Original skew or multi feeding]
    Hope that helps !

Does DPSS change state in U244 > Slant? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I forgot to mention what copier we were working with and I apologize for that. It's a CS 5501i. That may be why the settings that you mentioned Tony are not applicable. Thank you for your input.

Blackcat, for the Slant, we could not find the switch that would cause it to change state. Although we can see "Slant" on the screen, it's not mentioned in the service manual where to find it or how to trip it. Would you mind explaining to me how I can get to that switch or what causes Slant to change state?

I'm not close to a manual right now, but I would search "DPSS" in my DP772 service manual. You'll find a location. =^..^=

DPSS is a reflective sensor located to the rear of the feed belt pulley. See illustration:

Not there anymore! =( We had to contact our tech support and ask why there was no sensor or wires or anything there. At first he couldn't understand and was so confused as to why there was no sensor. Then finally, after speaking with someone else, he found that there had been a change implemented where they no longer use the DPSS, and have instead combined that sensor with the Feed sensor. That is why we could not find U460 and the remove skew under common settings - since there is no sensor and they removed it from the firmware.

They have now forwarded this issue to our Kyocera rep and he is going to be coming here next week to find out what is going on here. I will update this thread when we figure this all out.

Oh and thank you for the ideas everyone and thank you for going out of your way to find that information for me Blackcat. Very much appreciated.

                    Re: DP-772 Skew Jam

                    Update:

Good news and bad news. Good news, we finally got past the skew jam. We had to revert the firmware back to 2.0 (thank goodness we save all firmwares) and that got rid of the jam which had us thinking that we had it fixed. After replacing at customers site, we received a call that the original problem of black lines has suddenly returned. (These black lines occur on copies from the CIS, so duplex only... and only on the CIS side of the paper.)

To fix the issue, we ran U91 three times and 906. This causes the lines to turn from black to white. Then U91 three more times with a 906 will give us a perfect copy. This will last for a couple of days before the issue returns and we have to do the same process. This again, is getting passed to our Kyocera rep and I will update with any information if you would like.

Also, as always, if anyone has any ideas we would be happy to hear them.
