Hi all. I recommissioned a TA4550Ci for a client before being installed on site. He wanted the password enabled which I did. However, because it was not set up on a network it will not log in now even using the standard Admin/Admin login/password. It comes up with a message that it cannot be validated as it is not connected to a server. Is there a way to bypass the password/clear the settings so the panel can be accessed again? I cannot get into service mode either because of it. Thanks!

Re: Taskalfa 4550ci not validating control panel password
Now there are two types of authentication:
Local authentication compares your login information to an internal list on the MFP.
External authentication compares your login information to a list on the DNS Server.
Very few customers want external authentication. It usually involves typing a full username and password on the keyboard on the copiers touchscreen. Often that's 13 to 20 characters, and if you use the MFP regularly it becomes a serious annoyance, prematurely wearing out your touchscreen.
Most endusers that authenticate use local authentication. So rather than referencing a remote server, the reference data is is on the HDD of the MFP. It can be as simple as entering a 4 digit numerical password. And it doesn't matter if your device is on the network or not. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks blackcat4866. Yes I did see the simplified code at the time but that is too late to undo now with the current issue as I cannot bypass it. When I configured it, I set it up as a local password hence was miffed that it still wants to see a server.Comment
