    [Dead] Kyocera FS-C8520 Wierd Problem

    Hello All

Having a wierd problem on a Kyocera FS-C8520. It started with the customer complaining they lost their ability to scan to folder. When we arrived scan, copy and print were non functional. The wierd thing is everything looks fine on the display in copy mode and it says ready to copy but the start button doesnt light up green. If you print to it the job just sits in copier print queue and machine says processing but never prints out then errors out at computer. Paper trays have paper, all toner levels are full. We've tried the following with no success. Anybody seen this before

    Installed Latest Firmware
    Tried Operation Panel

Unfortunately we do not have any used main pcb's or engine pwb's to try swapping and hope to hear from someone who's seen this before so we don't have to resort to the expense of board swapping. Thanks for your responses in advance.

    Re: Kyocera FS-C8520 Wierd Problem

    Can you?:
    ... get into service mode?
    ... print internal prints?
    ... navigate the menus?

    Are there?:
... any errors or jams stored?
    ... any PM indicators ON?
... any toner low indications ON?
... job accounts set up with limitations?

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

In addition to everything Blackcat has asked. What is the setting for color toner empty set to? If it is set to stop printing when a color toner is empty, no copying or printing. we set our units to continue in black and white.

We cannot get into service mode or perform internal prints. When we try to do internal prints it reacts the same as sending it a print job. Queue's up and says processing but never prints out.

We can move to different function screens and menus

No error codes or jam codes. Again copy screen says ready to copy but no green light.

All toner levels and paper levels are good

No limits set or toner levels set to turn off when low.

Don't forget scan to file connects but doesn't work as well-no ready light

Had a similar issue with a TA 6501i. When attempting to copy or print from cassettes 3 and 4 machine would be stuck at processing. Turns out paper was stuck behind the B1 tray for cassette 3 and 4 blocking the connector to the machine.

On smaller machines I have seen this problem. This can be a track cut or connection problem on the control panel near the print swich or the ready led.or even a faulty ready led.

Its funny you would mention about the operation panel. One thing i noticed is the power button wasnt working on the original operation panel so we tried another one with the same result. Made sure no keys were stuck down locking out the key board but all was fine.

Have you tried going into the systems menu>service>and seen if "enable repaired unit" is displayed? If it is select it. This unit is different and does not have a 906 in the service mode, you have to do it through the systems menu under service, power cycling does not reset until you perform the enable.

check the low voltage power supply see if number 1. the two capacitors have blown the top open also check the 2 fuses below the capacitors.

they are all available in electronic stores .i have repaired over 20 of these units .a lot cheaper than buying a new one

Try changing the drum unit. Maybe the cleaning lamp is faulty.

I would try installing the print monitor on a computer and
see if it is out of toner, paper, jammed up,pm time or other error.
Since you can't get in service mode, this should tell you if it is simple or
time to replace pcbs. A jam state stops everything.

For me it looks like RAM problem.
