In case anyone needs/wants to know, you can strip/clean/deglaze/rebuild those clutch's if needed.


You can, "apparently", also sit behind the machine and pretend to do that, whilst telling the customer "We'll see how it goes, but parts for this old machine are getting hard to source, you really need to be thinking of a new machine." ..

Since this thread was never updated, I thought I'd give my fix for varying registration that I did today. We replaced the resist section which includes the clutch, which did not fix it. After that, the feed drive unit and the Z35r clutch that is on the frame under the feed drive unit resolved it. The clutches in the drive unit didn't look too bad, but the Z35r was pretty rusty. Since I had it all torn apart, it wasn't time to experiment.

you will have to remove the developer and the registration dust collector felt, and then the right side door and lower rear cover, the connector and two wire holders, and four screws holding the reg roller assy. once out of the machine you will see the clutch near the white gears...
Unless it has rust dust coming out of it, it is probably still okay.

There is one. I've not had to touch it. It's probably going to be behind the paper feed1 board, and a bunch of harnesses. Yes, unpleasant. =^..^=

Also make sure that the registration roller bushings are turning freely. =^..^=

ok but what about the clutch is there one and is it a bear to replace

8 years and I've not had to touch a registration clutch yet. I had to look it up to confirm that the 3500i even has a clutch. The 45 and 55 use a registration motor.

Just out of curiosity, why are you changing it? =^..^=

the image is shifting to the leading edge but not the same every time and sometimes not at all

i need to replace the registration clutch and would like to know if its a bear of a job or is it easy the book has nothing on it and im mostly toshiba
