[Jamming] Kyocera TA 5004i Jam 0511 and 0512

    HI Guys

Having this one machine TA 5004i with constant Jams 0511 and 0512.
Jam 0511 from cassette 1 is bad, done all that i could to try and isolate the issue to no avail.
Jam very few prints not more than 10 pages then jam. No damage visible on the Jamed pages. It just stops.
Cass 2 run good and have maybe 1 Jam 0512 in 150 prints

    What i have done
    • Swapped the feed assy with cass 2 no change
    • New original Kyocera feed rollers
    • cleaned all related sensors
    • Retard roller tension set to max
    • Cassette heater is installed and mode 2 selected
    • New paper and deferent make paper tested.
As per the service manual there are more probable causes but need parts replacements like clutch and PWB's

So my question is have anyone else experience the same and what did you find the cause to be.

    Any suggestions welcome please.

Is there a page in the fuser for every jam?
This could be the fuser causing the problem, replace it and see what happens.

Thank you for the suggestion, I have a fuser unit on order. Hope to see if it makes any difference on the Jam issue.

fk not related to this issue.
Maybe rusted clutch or wrong tension for retard roller.
You has to decrease the spring power instead of increase to get less separation.
        Maybe other rollers needed N021_2XD_0077_SB.pdf

I hate to ask a stupid question, but is a paper drawer size set to the paper that's in the drawer? I usually set all the paper drawers to auto so if the customer changes paper size the machine will know. And I encourage my customers to leave it that way.

I have started using the urethane rollers with mixed results. For some reason sometimes I have to go back to the original type roller for the Retard roller on some machines. Don't know why.

When i got my "training" course, the course material i was provided stated this which seems totally backwards to me. You mentioned you have cranked the sep spring. Maybe try going the other direction.

            Sep roller spring tension
No feeds / late. More tension
Multi feed or lead edge curl. Less tension
Evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

J511/512 are multi feed jams from tray one and two, usually because the paper is total rubbish.
The separation roller tension should be adjusted to one screw hole less than factory setting. Ie reducing the tension between sep and feed thus increasing the rollers ability to separate. If this isn’t enough try the eurethane rollers. If there are still issues fit another feed assembly and repeat the process above. Of course, ensure you take some good quality paper on site to compare and don’t even think about using anything less that 80gsm.

Paper all day long... Give the ream a bend like a u forward and back, will work fine if they do that.

Just a nightmare lately just constant "we changed paper. Don't think it's the paper do you?".

The updated spring for this issue seems to be working o.k.
