Kyocera 4004I with F052 error code

We have a Kyocera 4004i with a F052 error after a firmware update. The display shows all information but touch screen is dead, if you have the accessory keypad attached you can enter the service mode but cannot do anything that requires you to actually use the touch screen. Advice from hotline was to restart with HDD disconnected which should have given a different error code, it did not. Hotlines next suggestion is to replace main pwb or communication cable between display and main pwb. The last time we had this problem was on an older model and the fix was to replace the display assembly and load an older firmware on the machine. The display is permanently damaged by this by what i would think is a firmware error in the display. Has anyone had this problem and do you have a cheaper fix?

Have you tried reinstallining the firmware? Also I would try installing a previous version of firmware.

I haven't had that error code but the operation panel seizure has been an issue for me. Usually replacing the panel resolves the issue. Thinking back to when these machine first hit the field we had quite a few of them with HDD errors that were eventually resolved by replacing the SATA cable. If I recall correctly there was a faulty batch of these cables and we wound up replacing just the cable for our plague of HDD errors. I wonder if the "SATA" cable going to the operation panel is of the same batch at the ones that were used for the HDD. I haven't replaced any of them for the panel issue so I can not say with any certainty it would help but it is food for thought.

as mentioned, try the firmware update again. but also check to be certain you have the correct firmware for the model you are working on. you used a thumb drive to update the firmware?

Service Bulletin L159 doesn't list that code, but might be applicable
            Hope that helps !
