Re: Intermittent background stripes on page CS 6501i
Went over to the customers office Friday (3/4/22) at around 1530 and of course it wasn't doing the problem. I ran 50 copies and while I was there with no problem. I also saw a bunch of prints come out just fine.
I got with the person that called it in and let them know that if I order the part Monday, it won't get to us until later in the week. Their new machine will be installed Wednesday.
I reminded her where the main switch was and told her if the problem comes back turn the machine off for 20 seconds and switch it back on. That will force the machine to do a print quality check.
That ought hold them for a while.
Thanks justanotherhack. That conformation is good to know for the future.Leave a comment:

We had a 6551ci doing this intermittently; dev unit resolved it.Leave a comment:

Re: Intermittent background stripes on page CS 6501i
I've never had to do it on Kyocera, but used to on Sharp when needed.
I'd start with 140. Usually raising the number would lighten things up, opposite of analog.
You could also try 100. Just make a note of where things are before you start changing, so you can go back.

Have to ask, what voltages would that be? What service modes?
Thanks in advance.Leave a comment:

Playing with voltages would be the only way to temporarily resolve it, IMO.Leave a comment:

Re: Intermittent background stripes on page CS 6501i
A few days ago I did go back and replace transfer unit. I couldn't believe my good fortune to have a Belt Assy in the box on the shelf. I ran the image adjustment and after rebooting the machine I ran over 50 copies/prints w/o problem. Then the customer ran well over 150 copies/prints while I was standing there w/o problem (its a law office specializing in collections). This morning they called saying the machine will start shading after 10 to 15 copies/prints.
Maybe as tmaged pointed out the developer unit needs replacing.
Normally this would not be a problem but this machine is at lease end and we will be replacing it next week. The new machine has shipped and should be here Monday or Tuesday.
So my question now is does anyone know any tweaks or adjustments that might get this machine to run better for at least three or four days?
(BTW and FYI: The customer and I have at sometime kicked it w/o leaving marks. Just wanted to get that out of the way)Leave a comment:

Re: Intermittent background stripes on page CS 6501i
Heavy fill areas leave a negative in the adjoining fill areas at 45mm intervals (750K images on the PM). Transfer failure. Replace transfer belt assy (302LF94060). Run U030 [Feed] for 3 minutes to confirm that belt runs true (8-10mm gap belt to front frame), if not change shims per bulletin. In this case, 1 shim rear changed to 2 shims front.
We've seen a lot of these transfer belt units not make life. I have a theory that poor air circulation makes it fail quicker. One machine in particular (installed in a closet, of course) has had 4 transfer units to a PM cycle. The supervisor in that area does not like looking at the machine so he closes the closet door at every opportunity, and refuses any change of environment. Nice, huh?

Intermittent background stripes on page CS 6501i
I have a CS 6501i that is making these background stripes on the page. I have cleaned the drum unit, blank lamps, charger roller, and developer unit. I vacuumed out the air duct on the developer unit, the air duct for the developer unit inside the machine as well as the air duct that leads to the filter that attaches to the back of the machine. I ran the image adjustment. The copy quality improved, but this shading comes back intermittently.
When I measure from as near to the center of this shading to the next, I get 44mm to 46mm. The Repetitive defects gauge in the book has the transfer roller at 44mm.
Could this be as simple as replacing the transfer roller? If so, why is the intermittent?
Thanks for your help.Attached Files
