Kyocera M6235cidn black toner empty after 2 new ones still says toner empty

Hi Guys, I have a customer with the Kyo-M6235cidn machine, she got the message black toner empty, she replaced with brand new Kyocera brand, still said toner empty.. I took 2 brand new black with me & same issue with them also, says toner empty. I thought I saw this issue on here, but I can't seem to find that thread.. Can anyone help me with this? Machine is just over 1 year old & super low page count... Any help appreciated
    Thanks

Try reloading the firmware, not the Turbo but the Full version. Sometimes this helps.

Is it a very dusty environment? The Gemini that I saw with this problem was at a greenhouse. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

No... Super clean environment in a municipalities office for water and sewer. This machine is spotless in every aspect..... I will try firmware, but this has me baffled and I'm concerned

Make sure all covers are closed firmly. On some machines, the "toner empty" message displays on top of the "open cover" message and won't clear until the covers are closed.

This is what i found on the Gemini:

It takes a lot of disassembly to get to.
Essentially, when you close the top engine cover there are four cams (one for each color toner) that engage the drive for the toner roller. Dust can bind up those cams so that they do not engage when the top door closes. I tried it with no lubricant and it still binds up. In the end I cleaned all the parts and used light oil to lubricate the various parts of the cam mechanisms, to get them to retract and engage reliably. I think I've got a couple pictures:

                Add Toner1.jpgAdd Toner2.jpg

In the first picture please observe that of the three toner add mechanisms the two at the left stay stuck at ~11:00, while the third one correctly shifts to ~1:00 position. Warning: There are a lot of small moving parts that are difficult to re-assemble correctly.

I'm constantly amazed at the commitment that's involved in taking these pictures and then putting them in some type of filing system so that you can find them when you need 'em.

I started doing this when I saw that blackcat was doing it because it's a great idea. You just can't remember all of it.

Never had the dusty cams for me it was the board the toner motors plug into. Took me ages to work it out but if you put a new toner in the first thing it should do is turn that motor to replenish the Dev tank then when the machine sees a change it puts the level to 100%. I've also had it with the rear cover not closing so check that first.

It's a bit mad but you can fool it into running the motors with no toner in. On the right side on the machine it has a black cog that you can turn. Once all four are turned the machine will complain no genuine toner detected but still work with no toner inserted.

I agree with Rebel above. Open and close the rear door. I have also had one machine that the waste toner door had to be opened and closed. I suggest opening and closing all doors. If this does not work, remove all toners and close all doors. Allow the machine to display which toner is needed. Install that toner only and close all doors. Allow the machine to recognize that the next toner is not installed and install it the same way as the first. Do this for all toners and the message should go away. Try the simplest thing first and work to the others if needed. This is a fairly common issue on this model and most of the time opening and closing the rear door will solve the issue, but sometimes we have had to go further with it. Hope this helps.

UPDATE GUYS *****.. I went this morning with the latest firmware but thought I would do the obvious stuff first, I reseated the toner cartridge & the waste toner alert came up, I opened & closed the back door, reseated the waste toner bottle & also opened & closed the toner cartridge door & the message reset & the machine started to add K toner, about 20 seconds later the machine was ready to GO!!! I only like to do Firmware as a last resort because sometimes it creates another problem.. I did not update the firmware & just gave the machine a cleaning & customer is happy to just pay a service call. Machine has less than 6K total pages & is only 14 months old..

Thanks guys for all the suggestions, I love this site & the techs that contribute.. Have a great day!!

Currently have two machines with this problem...

Tried the opening and closing all the doors can't get the machine to clear the replace k toner message.

If I take all the toners out and reboot machine it still just asks for k toner and doesn't ask for cym even though they are not present.

                            Any ideas?

Any error messages in Command Center? Are these M6235cidns or other models?
