    4002i - large void area

I delivered the machine on Saturday...all was working. I went back today and and almost half of the page is void of toner coverage. It's the same exact pattern no matter how many pages I print.

Initially I thought it could be a moisture problem. I changed paper and did a drum refresh a few times with no success.

It looks like a DV problem??

    Thoughts?

Is the secondary transfer roller making full contact with the drum? There is a spring on each side to press the transfer roller against the drum, if one is missing the roller only contacts part of the drum and creates a light or no image on that side.

Looks like the gray push arm isn't latching on the DV unit. If it's not, put a plastic screw in it to hold it, or try removing the spring.
        Hope that helps !

I like Tony's response. I've also seen that push rod pop out of it's holders, producing a similar effect.
Did you get a solution yet? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

This was a new sell so I just replaced with a like machine and brought the problem machine back to the shop. I'm gonna try to take a look at it today. I don't have much experience on this model. I'm curious what the problem is. It was working fine when I first delivered it. I'll update after I take a look.

Re: 4002i - large void area

The early-production DV-8550 developers had the habit of breaking the tiny plastic tang part of the engagement button giving partial to mostly void pages.

Farmer-fix is to jam a screw into the side of the button so it stays completely engaged.

Proper fix is to replace the developer unit.

I can't recommend removing the spring from the cable tension part because then we might scratch the drum surface while installing/removing having become unable to disengage the dv roller from the drum surface.

Re: 4002i - large void area

First things first... thanks to everyone that assisted in helping fix this machine. It is truly appreciated.

The fix was the little button on the DV unit. I used a screw to hold the button in and viola, full toner coverage.

IMHO, this is a terrible design. What engineer come up with this? Nonetheless, now I know how to deal with it.

                See test prints below:
