Anyone know whether I can totally disable the Browser function? Customers don't even want the Admin to have rights to display\use browser. We're talking on the "3" and "4" series A3 machines.

Re: Disable ability to use internet browser
Internet browser is turned off by default, so just don't turn it on. If you need to prevent Admin from turning it on then you would need to change the password, but if the administrator did not know the Admin account password they could not do anything else if they needed to either. -
Re: Disable ability to use internet browser
The best way would be to disable it, and change the admin password so whoever is enabling it, cannot.
That sounds like an internal issue at the customers location.Comment

Re: Disable ability to use internet browser
As pointed out, anything that can be done to disable it can be undone by an Administrator. If the customer doesn't trust his administrators, demote them.
This is silly.

Re: Disable ability to use internet browser
I'm just guessing as I have never called Kyocera and asked them if they can brew up a special firmware because my customer has an unusual request, but I'm guessing that's not on Kyocera's menu because they'd be overwhelmed with similar requests.Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment

Re: Disable ability to use internet browser
If the workers are remote, no worries about them walking up to the machine (and I am guessing the VNC should be disabled as well because they could drive the browser remotely that way)
As for the site people, what stops them from using their phone browsers when on the church wifi? Should not this also prevent the MFP?
I would not even entertain the idea of suggesting it to the engineers for fear of looking stupid."Being ignorant is not so much a shame, as being unwilling to learn" - Benjamin Franklin

Re: Disable ability to use internet browser
I read back through this thread to make sure I understood your request.
At this point, I think its pretty clear that new firmware isn't an option. Now we're back to what Print Whisperer is suggesting. His method blocks internet access but it could be turned back on by an Admin. But an Admin is supposed to be a TRUSTED user. Shouldn't be an issue.
Bottom Line (IMHO) - Tell your customer that this is the way it is and that's that.Adversity temporarily visits a strong man but stays with the weak for a lifetime.Comment

Sounds like Amish. I've dealt with some of them in their businesses. They went as far as not referring to computers as computers because they weren't allowed to use computers. Same group who ran copiers off banks of marine batteries charged by solar panels......Comment
