I've got a customer running an 8026 to it's max as far as image quality settings, density settings, and toner output. They are running, often, 100% color coverage on 2 sides. The difficult part, is that they wanted to do it on coated, or glossy paper. That's not an option on that model. This, and ost higher speed color devices do not list coated and glossy in their specifications because those types can actually damage the machines. I suggested they run a quality paper, such as 28lb Hammermill color, for those jobs and set the driver to "gloss mode" for a gloss finish on the images. They also want to run the same type of doc's on cheap 20lb paper because the Hammermill is around $13.00 a ream. I told them that the paper is like a sponge, and the thinner the paper, the less ink it will absorb. Yeah the toner is actually "fixed" to the page, but "absorb" is a more easily understood term. Educating this customer on paper types and coverage amounts is going to be difficult and ongoing. Too much ink scratches off cheap paper, and coated paper, on heavy coverage jobs. Have any of you run into this problem on this model? On any other higher speed color device? Have any of you come across a middle price range 24lb or 28lb paper that can run well with heavy ink coverage? Any suggestions for card stock types? I would also like to suggest a usable 20 or 24lb paper for single sided, lower coverage jobs. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
