Hi everybody, Recently I cleaned Optical section of KM-4050, as lens, exposure lamp and mirror was very dusty I cleaned it with white cloth. after finishing cleaning I properly closed optical section and when i try to copy of original document blank print is coming out. As I print from computer print is coming very good but copy is blank print. Any Idea? please suggest. When I run maintainance code U411 Error coming out at INPUT Section, Error code is 04 (In service manual error 04 is showing black band is not detected (scanner leading edge registration) How to resolve this issue? Thanking in anticipation

Re: KM-4050 Copy problem - blank copy
There is a shading plate there somewhere (white reference sticker) either on the underside of the index plate or the underside of the scanner's edge. The "black band" referred to is a stripe on that shading plate, that acts as a reading starting point. If the CCD cannot see this stripe, it could be that the stripe is faded or just gone, the scanner is out of position at the specific time it's looking for it, a mirror could be misaligned (it's very easy to knock loose one of those spring clips), the CCD could be out of position/focus (did you remove the CCD? or lens?), or maybe you dislodged one of the cables to the CCD or shading PWB.
Hopefully you did not remove the CCD or lens. Those are aligned at the factory, and are very difficult to re-align without the factory tools. I spent most of a day on a Panasonic fax, in which the genius tech removed the four painted screws, then could not get an image any more.
I'd probably start right at the shading plate, and examine each component along the path to the CCD:
shading plate > mirror1 > scanner cables/rails/gliders > mirror2 > mirror3 > lens > CCD > wiring

1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

Where is a shading plate? i didnt see any white sticker.
neither i touch ccd, ccd cable nor its alignment so i think ccd is not the problem. I only cleaned all three mirror and exposure lamp, and I am very much sure about mirror alignment cause after cleaning i was precisely knock all spring clips.
Doubtfully it is a shading plate..... but i did not remeber where it is... (while disassembling optical unit i did not remember any sticker)Comment

The manual does not have a good view of it, but look here:
