    scan to mac

    I have a km-3050 at a customers account, set up scan and print on all pc's. Come to realize one person has a mac, i know they have print drivers for the unit. Does anyone know if scanning to the mac from this unit is possible?

    You can use SMB or FTP for scanning to the Mac.

    Just make sure that the protocol is enabled from Apple - System Preferences - Sharing. You will then be able to enable the protocol that you want.

    I have had the most success with FTP on Macs as it is easy to test if the FTP is working or not. Once you have enabled it, go to the terminal console and type in 'FTP localhost' with out the quotation marks. You should then be prompted for a user name and then a password. Use the credentials that you enabled for Read & Write and make sure that you can login ok.

    If you can login ok on the Mac, then you should be able to get a scan from the machine to the Mac ok.

        Use either or, but you don't need software for FTP or SMB on the Mac or even most versions of Windows.

        Just enabling FTP on the Mac get the FTP Server running as Mac OSX is a port from Linux, everything is inbuilt so to speak. With Windows, you need to install a feature called Internet Information Services (IIS) with the FTP component.

            If you aren't that familiar with Macs, then I would suggest that you Google "Mac OSX Enable FTP".

            Apple have some good guides on how to get the job done and should show up in the Google search.

                It may vary with the OS version, but usually:
                Apple menu->System Preferences->Sharing
                Click 'File Sharing', and make sure it's checked
                Click Options button
                check 'Share files and folders using FTP'
