The magenta spots on the drum is due to overheating on right side of machine, cyan is also affected alot as well. In the tech bulletin after replacing drum and updating firmware make sure to set u059 to fan mode 3 i believe(could be 2 cant remember exactly).Leave a comment:

Me either. I think the only way to fix these machines for good is with a semi doing over 70 miles per hour.Leave a comment:

Re: Task Alfa 250ci locked up during developer refresh
(i have my doubts that the dev refresh solved this problem for good) ive seen so many of these machines with this issue (magenta spots).. .why is it always magenta spots? and why is it always the magenta drum unit as the cure? (versus the developer unit , like its "overtoned".. or the unit is overfilled thus misting was my guess as to the cause)theres no way i can tell if the spots are 96mm apart.. it seems a radnom magenta dot cloud to me..im using ver 13 firmware, U464 at +4 on all colors, i simply swap out the magenta drum and thats the fix...wierd....Leave a comment:

Congratulations! You're the first! If you're machine loses it's mind again, I'd do a quick check on the power at the wall. High ground to neutral voltages can give you unpredictable results. =^..^=Leave a comment:

Task Alfa 250ci locked up during developer refresh
Went to check on a TA color with a magenta background. Started with developer refresh as per the troubleshooting guide. Sat down and read the guide for a bit and checked the time--6 minutes and 10 seconds remaining. Read some more of the guide and checked the time again--6 minutes and 10 seconds remaining. Pushed the stop and start buttons only to get beeped by both. With my heart in my throat and sweat beginning to bead across my forhead, I turned the machine off and back on and waited for what seemed like an eternity for the machine to boot back up. I did the color registration and calibration as well as setting adjustments and the background was gone, along with the spots I encountered when I printed a status page.
Has anyone else had their machine lock up on the developer refresh?
