Take the tray out and see if there is any paper behind it. Then go into the maint mode-10871087-and do a 906 reset.

If the problem continues or tray will not lift occurs you possibly have a defective lift motor and or blown components on the engine PWB.

A good way to test it is first 906. Then cassette 1 lift motor with cassette 2 assuming that one is working fine. 906 again if you need to. Remove cassette 1 and see if the lift motor is turning automatically. If that it the case, then you have a shorted Engine PWB that will power that lift motor forever until it burns out. In that case, replace both. Otherwise, see if the problem follows the lift motor.
