    DP-750/DP-760 lift plate issue

Hello everyone, hoping someone has come across this issue, we've struggle to find a good resolution other than swapping the entire DP unit, or in one instance the copier itself. We keep running into an issue where the lift plate either goes crazy up and down and never hits the right position to feed paper, never goes up, or always stays up. We've replaced multiple components on these units to no avail.

We had one copier that kept causing our DP's to do this, and then those DP's wouldnt work on other copiers. Weve even replaced the board the DP connects to on the copier. We ended up scraping that unit just to make sure nobody put a DP on it by accident.

Can anyone provide any insight to this particular issue. I am likely combining multiple problems, but we cant seem to pin down the issue for them. There was no service bulletin for this on my KDA page either.

You weren't very specific exactly what components you replaced. I hope they were not so numerous that the list would not fit in this thread.

The simplest cause is a paper clip, and can happen on a wide variety of Kyocera DP's. The lift plate has a vertical fin that slots down into a typically unsophisticated photointerrupter to monitor vertical movement. The paper clip drops down the slot between the lift plate and the inlet guide and lands on top of the photointerrupter. The fin hits the paperclip, and cannot trip the photointerrupter. It will try 6 or 10 times before it gives up and errors out. Sometimes if you lift the DP the right way, the paperclip will move away and work for a while, then later move back to irritate you.

On the DP-710's the lift plate works a little differently. It's driven by a cam, and there is a spring that pulls the lift plate up against the bottom of the cam. When the loop of the spring breaks the lift plate stays down.

Maybe you could include any error or jam codes, and the parts you've replaced? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

We recently had to replace the motor & gears on a 6551ci for that issue. I don't remember the error code, but I think it was an adf tray down error ?
      Hope that helps !

had this many times the problem lies in the black holder which houses the pick up roller and feed belt. there is a little plastic piece that snaps off this holds the unit in a position where a sensor is made behind it. quite difficult to explain but youll probably notice the pick up roller hangs down slightly more than it should. because the sensor isn't being made properly the head doesn't know where its at. good luck

Havent gotten any C-codes that i can recall, and the error message is usually "reset originals and press continue" there likely is a jam code associated with that message, but i never took it because we could easily identify the lift being the problem. That's our fault.

We have before replaced the main board on the DP, the solenoid, the drive motor for the lift plate, the gearpack, none of which worked

the most recent instance the lift motor wouldnt activate at all. Doing a simulation 203 to run the dp or doing a 243 and specifically selecting the lift motor... it gave no response. Tried replacing the motor and main board, and still got no response on this specific issue.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner. Investigated, sure enough to plastic clip that holds it was broken, replaced the housing for it, and miraculously it works again, no problems.

Im going to go scream in a trash can now.

(this still doesnt explain our copier that would keep tanking DP's, those clips werent broken on that unit, but Ill take this win)
