Thinking it is somewhere in the scan carriage...(New account at a school that school that helps troubled youth. Crazy for taking on this dinosaur but for a good cause) Also does anyone know where to get service manuals and parts for this machine ?

Only Oce can service this machine as the SST in on their laptops and not on the machine. Service manuals are all so on their laptops. Don`t know about the spare parts.

Not true!! From VP2090 onwards this is the case, all previous models SST or SDS as Oce call is on the machine via a service code.

As for the code its most likely to be the scanner motor failed.

Yeah, When cleaning the optics, I had moved the scanner from it's home position and started the machine. Found that it has to be reset from service mode. Someone sent me the procedure to get into service mode and I fixed it.

Starting the copier when the scanner carriage is not at the home sensor will not cause this code, it will initialise and find the home position.
It is more likely an intermittant failure of the scanner motor and the error will probably return and you will need to keep re-setting it via sds.

You will eventually have to replace the scanning motor Oce part no is 2967604
