    HP 3600N (Possible toner lock?)

Hello all, could use a little help trouble shooting a HP 3600N. I normally service Ricoh proucts, though I have worked on a few other model types. My manager has asked me to put together a estimate on a 3600N that is currently non operational. We recieved the unit in it's box with a note saying "Former employee had taken apart". And true to this note, the copier was indeed disassembled.

I was able to find the manual and put the machine back together, the customer wanted us to look into the cost of repairing the machine. What I had noticed once the machine was able to power on is that it wouldn't read the black (k) toner cartridge. They only provided a yellow and black, the yellow was read (I'm unable to test the others at the moment due to lack of cartridges) but the black wont read, I can "feel" a difference in the way the black (k) sits compared to the yellow, almost like something isn't engaging properly. I did do some trouble shooting and came across a few post on the toner lock system, the systems described here seem to be similar to the one I am dealing with. I understand that all 4 toner locks have to be replaced as a unit due to the timing involved? But my question is, could there be any other issue I may not be aware of or seeing that would cause this? I ask as I don't see any of the "characteristics" of broken pieces or parts usually associated with the toner lock failing, it' just that the systems I seem to be experiencing with the machine are very similar to what I've read.

Any advice would be helpful. At this point the machine is only in for a estimate, but if they decide to move forward with the repairs I want to be well adjusted and prepared for the job.
