[Dead] DPC322 Comes on then shuts down.

Machine will come on and after about 10 seconds shut down. Tech was out here yesterday for about an hour and said it was the main board. Stated that the board was no longer available or repairable and that the unit was worth 0.00. Hard pill to swallow that 14000 unit is worth 0.00 because of 1 part. Can these boards be repaired or does it make since to try? Everything else on the machine seems to be in working order. Is there a demand for this type of machine to be parted out?

I am no technician but downloaded the service manual and enjoy trouble shooting this kind of stuff. If its true it is worth nothing then what is to lose. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. They have already installed a new unit and picked up the old one. I am going to have them bring it back later today based on the gracious knowledge from this forum.

Remove the back panel and unplug the hard drive. Panasonic's are notorious for HDD issues.

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

I saw him swap hard drives while he was here. I also learned that the tech determined the board to be an issue by unplugging all peripherals and then trying the boot. Supposedly if that fails then its the main board? Unit supposed to be back here some time today. They said they have three units just like ours with mainboard issues. Been reviewing the service manual and can't figure out which board, ie part number they are pointing to. Anyone have any idea which part I should be trying to hunt down? Thanks!!

It is probably the EC board however there is still a chance that it is the SC board (the two main boards that control the machine). Seen both of them go out on too many machines. 322's are first generations that are getting up there in age. Great machines but when things go bad it can be real bad.

If you remove the rear cover and you are looking at the machine, the SC board is the bigger one on the left with the memory chips. The EC board is the smaller one on the right. From what you are describing, I would guess the SC bard is bad. The EC board should have 4 LED's in a row lit on it. If any of those 4 LED's are out, the EC board is bad.

I would unplug the hard drive, all the memory, fax broad if it has one. pretty much all the options, i would remove all, and turn it back on, then add one option back (make sure u turn the mc off before doing it) at a time. These machines are know for the hdd and memory problems.
