    [Misc] Panasonic 4530 Toner Hopper

Hey guys, i have a Panasonic 4530 in the field that has light copy quality. I narrowed it down to the toner hopper not puting toner into the DV unit,

I replaced the dv because it needed it anyway. I also tripped the door sensors and made 100 dark black copies and the toner bottle would not rotate, i dont have any of these left at the warehouse. Anything else i can do before i have to order one?

    Thanks all in advance.

Had that happened recently and I found out it was a broken paddle in the dev assembly. You can check motor rotation with F4-51 and 52.

On this series, when your copies are light, Cheat the front door interlock so you can run copies with the front door open. Take the plastic catch tray/ cover off the botton of the toner hopper. From underneath you should be able to see toner hoper gears. the motor turns one way to dispense toner into the dv unit and the other to rotate the toner bottle. If you see gears turning and the bottle does not, that means that the sensor in the dv unit is calling for toner but if it is light it is not getting it. that can be cause the sensor in the toner hopper is fooled into thinking it is full of toner when it is not or because the hopper is not dispensing despite the fact that the toner motor is turning. these Failures seem to be happening as the hopper gets older or extremely well used. Unless you want to rebuild the hopper (a real pain) you better hope you can get a toner hopper assembly.

I have had issues over the last 3-4 months with toner hoppers. I have had these machines out for years with no problem and all of a sudden it seems they all are haveing the same problem.

I found the same thing as you after chasing developer units. After trying unsuccessfuly to repair these units I just replace them; after all consider the cost of time and developer. Cost is around $176. I am replacing the fourth one in three months.
