This one has us stumped.
Basically, you can get the machine to come up. When you do test prints (I like using checker board), I can do black and each color and the machine will run and those prints look good (not faded or missing stuff, etc).
When you try an alignment either in SP mode or through the user maint, SC 204 pops up.
We have replaced the IOB, BCU, laser motor, laser housing unit, transfer belt unit. Firmware has been updated. We also cut wire ties on the harness between the connecters at the laser housing unit and the board.
On some older machines (MPC3300) a 204 had nothing to do with what the book said it did (laser error). It instead was a issue with grounding, especially on the door and with the transfer unit. I don't think that is the issue with this particular machine as we can get it to run doing test prints and it doesn't code out. Only when the alignment procedure is attempted.
