Ricoh MP C8002 fusing unit rebuild....

Is it "just" me or is this fusing unit the hardest to rebuild ever? Like a million different screws

If anyone found a way to crack this easy, please speak up!

You get quicker over time. First time I did it I took it home over the weekend and did it over about 4 hours on a Sunday. Next few times I've done it on site in 1.5 hours.

It is got to be the hardest fuser known to man to rebuild, each machine gets harder. The Pro 8100 BW machine ain't no fun either.

Yikes! I thought that the drums for the wide format machines were expensive at 1 KBuck, but you win!

I know. I just did one last week. Kind of a mix between previous B/W and the MPC 6501 with having to open it like a clam shell.

Nevertheless they last, I've let them run until they break - No PM on this maneating fuser...

And I've had a customer run so much coverage that it destroyed the surface after a couple of months. Was not happy about rebuilding it again so quickly but the customer has now been educated in their ways.

I haven't done the 5100 yet but I didn't think the 8100 was that bad.............

And if the sales schmuck doesn't sell the TCRU kit for the fuser on these models he should be bitch slapped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And, can you retrofit the cleaning web onto the 8002 fuser as it only comes on the other model and not this one? That would help with my customers heavy coverage.

Trained Customer Replaced Units. By all appearances Ricoh trains endusers to swap out assemblies as needed.

The 8100 is bad when compared to the previous model, the 907/1107, which was really pretty easy.

It's not as easy as the 907, true but I also work on the 900/901 color boxes. So for that reason I just don't think the 8100 is that bad, just different...........
